KitchenPad Timer Pro App for iOS

There are a lot of kitchen timers on the market, but few of them look as cool as the KitchenPad Timer Pro app.  This app is designed for iPhone/iPod and for iPad.  The photo is a screenshot showing how it looks on my iPad.  You can set nine individual timers – five stove-top and four [...]

WiFi-only Motorola Xoom appears at Sam's Club, bearing $539 price?

You might have seen Motorola's WiFi-only Xoom popping up at European e-tailers, but it's reportedly flying the red, white and blue today, having materialized at Sam's Club in the good ol' USA. Droid-Life stumbled upon several snapshots of these Xoom Wi-Fi vouchers, with a $539 price tag hanging above their heads -- plenty cheaper than a cellular Xoom, and also slightly more affordable than a similarly specced iPad 2. Of course, Sam's Club deals in wholesale merchandise, and even should this price be accurate the tablet may not be widely available at the same rate, so don't count out $599 as the Xoom Wi-Fi's MSRP. Meanwhile, let us know if you manage to find and ring one up at the register, eh?

[Thanks, Michael]

Visualized: US smartphone market share, by manufacturer and platform, made pretty

They say a picture is worth a thousand words -- but in this case, a picture is worth tens of billions of dollars in market share. Nielsen has broken down its US smartphone market share stats between November and January in two dimensions -- by market share and by platform -- and stuffed all that data into a single block of mesmerizing color. It's interesting to see the Apple and RIM juggernauts flanked by two imposing, red slivers of HTC, isn't it? The research firm also took a look at platforms by age group; the shares are surprisingly consistent across the board, though Android does have a slight edge with the young'uns. Follow the break for that chart.

Apple iPad 2 Smart Cover vs. InCase Convertible Magazine Jacket... Fight!

By now you've seen Apple's Smart Cover, right? The mind blowing cover (don't call it a case) pretty much stole the show during yesterday's iPad 2 press event, causing children to weep at the sight of our exploded bodies. Thing is, we've seen the design before. Oh sure, Apple improved upon it significantly, but there's no mistaking its InCase Convertible Magazine Jacket heritage. See the two slug it out on video after the break in some kind of weird reverse KIRF cage match. We guess 2011 really is the year of the copycats.

Review: Seidio Innocase II Surface for the Samsung Fascinate

The Samsung Fascinate is one sexy phone with a smooth yet slippery plastic surface. One wrong move and the next thing you know you're helplessly watching as it transitions from sexy to scratched. Enter the Seidio Innocase II Surface: a high-quality case designed to add moderate protection while retaining the Fascinate's sleek appearance.

Assembly is quick and easy. There are two interlocking pieces that slide snuggly into place. Each 1 mm piece is constructed from durable soft-touch plastic and lined with felt for additional protection during assembly and removal. The soft-touch plastic gives you the grip you're looking for and feels oh so good in the hands.

There are cutouts for the the volume and power buttons, mic, speaker, USB port, 3.5mm jack, lanyard, and camera. The bottom raises the camera lens and speaker away from flat surfaces. The raised speaker provides the additional benefit of improved audio quality. If you're like me and carry a spare battery, you'll be happy to know that a push and slide of the bottom piece allows for quick and easy removal.  Overall I was pleased with the quality and appearance of this minimalistic case. If you're looking for a nice mix of style and protection; you can't go wrong with the Seidio Innocase II Surface for the Fascinate.

The Seidio Innocase II Surface for the Samsung Fascinate comes in five colors -- black, blue, burgundy, amethyst and pearl white -- and is available in the the Android Central Store for $27.95. We've got more pics after the break.

Sony's NGP at GDC 2011: more video of the quad-core marvel in action

The headline just about says it all -- we've got some new footage (as opposed to what we've seen before) of Sony's NGP for all you gamers to drool over. Today at GDC 2011, we saw a live demo of Uncharted, Little Deviants, and the NGP's augmented reality capabilities. We were, once again, impressed by Sony's latest piece of gaming hardware, but don't take our word for it, see for yourself in video footage above and after the break. And, oh-by-the-way, we gleaned a few new tidbits about the handheld powerhouse that developers may want to know -- retail game cartridges will be only 2GB or 4GB in size (notable because the average PS3 title is 9GB), and Sony recommends that devs looking to port PS3 titles to the NGP should simplify their models, shaders and textures to make them work. Now if only Sony would spill the beans about how much the thing'll cost.
